O.J. Simpson made a shock joke about refusing to confess in a recent podcast appearance discussing if men should open up to women.

Simpson, 76, was a guest on the ‘It Is What It Is Talk’ podcast, hosted by American rappers Cam’ron and Mase, where they responded a quote by Shaquille O’Neal saying men shouldn’t open to women because it could be used against them.

Simpson was asked his views on the NBA legend O’Neal’s remarks and took things in a surprising direction.

‘When you say “open up to women”, I don’t know what he’s talking about,’ Simpson said. ‘Is he talking about confession?

‘No man, don’t confess. I think he’s right. Don’t say nothing – leave me out of the confession. Y’all gotta leave me out of this one.’

Cam’ron and Mase laughed at Simpson’s comments, although they both appeared to be surprised by the direction Simpson had taken the discussion.

Simpson was tried in 1995 over the death of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.

His acquittal came nine months after the well-publicized trial got underway in 1995, and around 16 months after Simpson and Goldman were found brutally murdered outside the former’s home in Los Angeles.

Simpson’s trial and eventual acquittal of the murders was played out on television for the entire world to see, though despite walking away as a free man in 1995 he was later forced to pay out $33.5million in damages to the Brown and Goldman families after being found responsible for the deaths in civil court.

The former Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers running back also encountered more legal problems when he was sentenced to nine to 33 years behind bars for armed robbery in Nevada in 2008.

After serving for nine of those years, he was paroled in 2017.

Last year, Simpson was pictured on a couple of occasions looking frail as he made his way around Las Vegas, where he now lives.

Simpson reportedly used a cane while he was serving a prison sentence for stealing sports memorabilia.
