Reddit: Caleb Swanigan Weight Loss and Weight Gain Journey – According to Aaron Organ of WANE 15, former Portland Trail Blazers forward Caleb Swanigan died at the age of 25.
Caleb Swanigan’s death was announced by Bob Kravitz on Twitter:
“So sad. Former Purdue basketball star Caleb “Biggie” Swanigan passed away today, according to a statement by his family. He was 25 years old.
The cause of death has not yet been determined. Biggie was a first-round pick by Portland, but more recently, he’s had personal struggles.”
Swanigan died of natural causes, according to the Allen County (Indiana) Coroner’s Office.
Purdue paid tribute to the Boilermaker standout’s passing.
In 2016-17, the Indianapolis native was named a first-team All-American and Big Ten Player of the Year. As a result of his accomplishment, he was selected by the Blazers as the 26th overall choice in the 2017 NBA draft.

The athlete’s family is yet to reveal what actually happened to him media reports it is natural causes. However, Reddit has a different theory blaming his weight loss journey for his death.
Swanigan finally quit basketball as a result of his fight with weight gain. Following his retirement from the NBA, Swanigan attempted a career in rap music. However, even before that, he affectionately adopted the moniker “Biggie.”
Swanigan also garnered recognition for his persistent health concerns, as well as a narcotics accusation in 2021.
He weighed 118 kgs at the time of his death. He could maintain his body leading to many health issues towards the end. It was not like the star never tried to lose weight but could not sustain it.

Carl Swanigan Sr., Swanigan’s father, passed away in 2014 at the age of 50 as a result of complications from diabetes.
Swanigan struggled with controlling his weight as he grew older. He acquired his propensity for obesity from his father, just like he did his height. He ultimately regained control of his physique with the aid of his adoptive father, professional athlete Roosevelt Barnes, who was in his prime.
