Following his arrest, LSU said in a statement that he has been suspended from the team ‘indefinitely’.

‘We are aware that a student-athlete has been arrested in relation to a shooting in Union Parish,’ LSU said. ‘This student-athlete has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities, in accordance with departmental policies.

‘Out of respect for the judicial process, we will have no further comment.’

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Holly is being held on a $512,000 bond.

The Tigers’ No 25 enjoyed an impressive debut season with LSU, rushing 11 times for 110 yards and one touchdown last term.

On his debut back in October, he was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week after rushing for 91 yards – most of which came on a 67-yard touchdown.

Holly also set a Louisiana record during his high-school days, after registering 10,523 career yards rushing over five years.
