Mahomes Expected to Win Second MVP Award of His Career

Patrick Mahomes has already achieved more in his five years in the NFL than many quarterbacks have in their careers in the league. He has won the MVP, Super Bowl, and Super Bowl MVP. He has also played in four AFC Championship games.

2022 was another big year for Mahomes. He threw more touchdown passes than any other quarterback, with 41 going his way. That’s the second-highest tally of his career, eclipsed only by his half-century of touchdowns in 2018.

Mahomes did land a career record for passing yards. He ended the regular season with 5,250 yards with the arm. He also proved accurate with the ball, completing 435 of his 648 attempts, leaving him with a 67.1% completion rate.

Kansas City will be hoping their quarterback continues in the same form across the playoffs. Justin Jefferson Led the League in Receiving Yards and Receptions

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson is expected to be named the NFL Offensive Player of the Year. He finished the campaign with 1,809 receiving yards and 128 receptions. Both of those were the highest in the league.

In what was his third year in the NFL, Jefferson continued his excellent relationship with quarterback Kirk Cousins. The Vikings had their best regular season since 2017, finishing the campaign with a 13-4 record. Their offense scored heavily across the 17 games, with Jefferson being the standout player.

Nick Bosa was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in his opening season in the league. The San Francisco 49ers defensive end looks set for the NFL Defensive Player of the Year Award this time.  With 18.5 sacks and 51 combined tackles, he proved a dominant force in the 49ers’ defense.

Garrett Wilson and Ahmad Gardner Star Rookies

It was a good season for the latest class of rookies in the NFL. The New York Jets took a big step forward in the AFC East. Although they missed out on the playoffs, they showed that they are heading in the right direction. As outlined here, their first-round picks from the NFL Draft, Garrett Wilson, and Ahmad Gardner, hit the ground running in their opening years.

Wilson looks set to win the NFC Offensive Rookie of the Year after picking up over 1,000 receiving yards, while many pundits expect Gardner to be the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. The cornerback was named to the Pro Bowl where he will represent the AFC in the invitational event.

Geno Smith In Contention for Comeback Player of the Year

Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith showed in 2022 that he is one the best at his position in the league. Russell Wilson’s departure from the Denver Broncos, about which you can read more here, opened the door for him to become a starter again and he has taken the opportunity.

Smith played his first full season since 2013. He led his team to a 9-8 record, picking up 4,282 passing yards in an impressive campaign. The former first-round pick is likely to win the Comeback Player of the Year in recognition of what he achieved.

This year’s NFL Honors is the 12th edition in history, and it will be held at the Symphony Hall in Phoenix. Arizona.
