Fans have been fondly revisiting some of the most cherished clips featuring Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers following his death at the age of 66.

Much-loved moments include many of his worldwide travels and cookery tips provided alongside Hairy Bikers co-star Si King.

He also featured in the 2013 series of the BBC‘s Strictly Come Dancing, partnered with Karen Hauer and reaching week seven of the competition.

Myers had also been open about his health struggles, including his efforts to lose weight, his diagnosis with glaucoma and receiving cancer treatment since 2022.

Here, MailOnline looks back at some of his on-screen highlights…

Getting kicks on Route 66

Myers and King took on famed US highway Route 66 in 2019, making sure to serve up some of their own recipes on each stop-off along the way.

They were filmed for a series called Hairy Bikers: Route 66 which culminated in them enjoying a three course marijuana-infused meal and drink in Los Angeles.

The duo said they were impressed by the flavours of the meal, but ended up in fits of laughter – with Dave appearing barely able to speak.

They first tucked into a Filipino spring roll packed with 5milliograms of CBD which comes from the cannabis plant but is not psychoactive.

They also supped a marijuana- based lemonade, as well as eating pork belly topped with cannabis which added ‘a citrus tone to a hot sauce’.

Myers said: ‘It’s a really vibrant sauce, I’m really enjoying it.’

But a pudding left Dave barely able to communicate, saying: ‘It really is so tasty. Oh, it’s lovely. Well, now I can’t even speak!’

Both men went on to describe their dessert of candied Crème brûlée with three milligrams of CBD and three milligrams of THC as their favourite of the trip.

Like a Bat Out Of Hell

The two Hairy Bikers teamed up in a different way when performing Meat Loaf’s Bat Out Of Hell as part of the BBC’s Children In Need special in 2010.

One response to the YouTube video of the performance today said: ‘A great way to remember and celebrate them when still together. Thanks for all the meals and laughs, Dave.’

Another viewer wrote: ‘The Hairy Bikers always make me laugh and this is brilliant.’

The duo began the scene by chopping vegetables in a kitchen before segueing into different costumes and the stage performance.

He had the Moves Like Jagger

Myers performed alongside professional dancer Karen Hauer in the 2013 series of BBC primetime favourite Strictly Come Dancing, making it as far as week seven.

One of the pair’s most-praised displays was an enthusiastic cha cha soundtracked by Maroon 5’s Moves Like Jagger.

The routine saw him impersonate Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger, who is said to be a keen viewer of the show himself.

Doing exaggerated moves in a flamboyant silver shirt, he took professional Karen by the leg and pulled her along the dancefloor.

His energetic dances were memorable for their exuberance and then-judge Bruno Tonioli praised him for being ‘entertaining’.

A programme insider was quoted at the time as saying: ‘Dave is not a natural dancer, but he’s having the time of his life and viewers will see him strut his stuff like Rolling Stones frontman Jagger, including imitating his famous “strut”, hands on hips, chest puffed out.’

And Hauer said: ‘He has definitely got moves that I have never seen, ever – they are completely alien to me.’

Yet the routine – his first on Strictly – only won the couple 16 points out of a possible 40, with one of the judges Craig Revel Horwood handing them just two out of ten.

Karen today posted on X, formerly Twitter, ‘Heartbroken’ alongside a heart emoji.

More love for Meat Loaf

Another of his Strictly dances was a paso doble to the sound of Meat Loaf’s chart-topper I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That).

Again they were given just two out of ten from Revel Horwood – part of another overall score of 16.

Myers’ top rating from infamously-acerbic Revel Horwood was five out of ten for the following week’s waltz to Take It To The Limit by the Eagles, scoring 23 in total.

His penultimate performance on the show was for its Hallowe’en special that year, dancing to Monster Mash.

There was some fans’ backlash as he got to stay while Countdown presenter Rachel Riley was voted off, with suggestions he should step away in favour of ‘more competent’ performers.

His time on the series ended a week later following his and Hauer’s performance to the sound of the Proclaimers’ I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles).

Collapsed pudding

While appearing on the BBC’s Saturday Kitchen in July 2017, Myers and King struggled to get a fruit pudding out of dish.

And despite Myers slamming the bowl down on the table a few times and King stepping in to help, the pudding came out collapsed.

He joked: ‘Generally it just relaxes, a bit like when my wife takes her Spanx off.’

While laughing on air, they tried to save the pudding by putting some berries and herbs on for decoration.

Bank trap

On an episode of BBC comedy panel show Would I Lie To You? in 2013, Myers revealed that he was trapped in a merchant bank while a security guard aged 22.

He said he ended up shut in there from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day evening in 1980 because there was no relief and he was not given the keys for the bank.

Tear-jerking update

Viewers were left sobbing after Myers gave an update on his cancer treatment in a Hairy Bikers Christmas special last December.

He thanked his carers with a festive dinner following his cancer diagnosis.

Myers revealed how nurses smuggled in special treats for him and also helped give ideas for the Bikers’ new cook book, Ultimate Comfort Food while he was in hospital.

In the episode The Hairy Bikers: Coming Home for Christmas, they sat around the table together, and Myers emotionally raised a glass to the health heroes for what he says is ‘a Christmas I didn’t think I’d be around to enjoy’.

He continued: ‘A lot of the ideas in the book have come from the nurses because when you’re on chemo you’ve got a lot of time, so the nurses come and chat about food. They’re from all over the world and they bring me food, which is very kind.

‘Sometimes it’s a bit difficult to eat a cheesecake while you’re having chemo but I seemed to cope quite well with it.

‘We said, “We’re doing this book on comfort food, myself and Si” – “Oh, well, we have this in our country and we have that”.

‘When I haven’t been eating they’ve come up from the kitchen and said “Look, can we get anything in?” I said “Do you know, for breakfast just some toast, peanut butter and jam”.’
