Georgia Man Allegedly Travels to Florida, Beats and Threatens Ex-Girlfriend, Kills Her Dog

In a shocking incident that unfolded in Hillsborough County, Florida, a Georgia man named Timothy Crawford, 52, was indicted for a series of violent acts that left a woman severely injured and her dog dead. The incident began on December 7, when Crawford allegedly traveled from Atlanta to Hillsborough County, with the intention of carrying out a violent act against a woman he had a history with.

Upon arriving in Odessa, Crawford broke into the woman’s home on Carden Drive, armed with a pistol and a stun gun. He waited for the woman to return, and when she did, he used the stun gun on her, punching and kicking her as well. Crawford reportedly threatened to kill the woman and her children, causing the woman to defend herself with a dumbbell and escape from the home. Before leaving, Crawford shot and killed the woman’s Maltese dog.

The prosecutors allege that Crawford entered Florida between 7 a.m. and 4:49 p.m., based on surveillance video. He was supposed to attend a work-related barbecue in Tampa the following day and had checked into a hotel in Lutz hours before the attack. After the attack, Crawford called his ex-wife and confessed to the crime, stating, “I attacked [the woman], I love you and the kids. I’m going to jail.”

Crawford was indicted on charges of interstate domestic violence, discharge of a firearm during and in the commission of a crime of violence, and interstate stalking. If convicted, he faces a minimum of 10 years in federal prison.
