Since announcing his plan to visit West Virginia on January 14, Knigga has gained plenty of attention online due to his eye-catching surname, which could sound like an offensive racial slur if pronounced a certain way.

‘Bro why is that your last name,’ one user replied to a post which has now raked in almost 30 million impressions on X.

‘How do announcers say yo last name,’ another fan asked. ‘Do they just skip over it?’

So as he prepares to size up West Virginia, Knigga has finally cleared up how to pronounce his controversial last name in an interview with former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III – and it’s safe to say if done so correctly.

‘It’s Kuh-nay-guh,’ he said while sat alongside his family.

Griffin then replied: ‘See that’s the key. It’s Kuh-nay-guh, there you go. Now we vibing a little bit.

‘I know for some people that might ruin the name, I don’t think it ruins the name at all.’

After teasing the family by asking if they’ve ever been to Paris, in reference to a famous 2011 song by Jay-Z and Kanye West, Griffin then wanted to know if anyone had ever reacted angrily to the name after reading it.

‘I don’t think they’ve gotten mad,’ Noah’s dad said. ‘I’ve had a few guys come up to me and say “hey man, what’s up with this?”

‘But I don’t think anybody’s ever gotten mad.’

Noah is attracting interest from a number of Division I schools to play football after becoming a Junior All-State Team selection as a linebacker at the 3A level in Indiana this season, despite only playing six games due to injury.

However, the youngster is not only talented on the football field, as he also won MVP honors in a basketball tournament over the weekend.
