A phlebotomist has been charged after allegedly giving a female patient an intimate swab without authorisation.
The 27-year-old man is accused of carrying out the procedure at a pathology clinic in Willetton, in Perth’s south, on August 31.
He allegedly advised the patient she would need to undertake an intimate swab even though the test was allegedly not requested and he had no authorisation to do it.
A phlebotomist is a professional who is trained to collect blood samples from patients in hospitals or a collection facility.

The 27-year-old was charged with two counts of sexual penetration without consent.
He will front Armadale Magistrates Court on October 10.
The Dianella man had been working as a phlebotomist at the clinic since July 2021.
Investigators are urging anyone with information relating to the incident to contact them.
