The BBC paid tribute to Dave Myers on Tuesday night as the next episode of Hairy Bikers Go West aired, just days after its star’s death.

The continuity announcer for BBC Two introduced the 7pm episode with the words: ‘To Wales in really good company, the light, zesty and lovely Dave Myers, gone but not forgotten’.

The TV chef passed away last week aged 66 with his friends and family by his side, two years after he revealed he was undergoing treatment for an unspecified type of cancer.

Viewers were left in tears as they watched Dave on screen with best friend Si King.

‘It doesn’t feel right that this series is the last we’ll see of Si and Dave. Dave’s passing has left quite a large hole in the culinary tv space,’ wrote another.

The Hairy Bikers’ last ‘magical series’ will continue to air in full on the BBC producers revealed on Tuesday.

Dave filmed his last show last year which had only just started to be shown on BBC Two.

A post on his Instagram page on Tuesday confirmed it would continue to air with the next episode since his death to beam across the nation tonight.

The post read: ‘Despite such sad times we know that Dave would have wanted you to continue to enjoy the magical series that he shot with Si last year.

‘We’d like to thank everyone from all over the world, who has reached out with messages of love and support over the last few days. Every one of them has been read and truly appreciated.’

The chef announced he was receiving treatment for cancer in May 2022 and bravely kept the public up to date with his progress in a series of emotional TV specials.

Part of the episode saw Si meeting the owners of a permaculture farming firm on his own while Dave rested during filming.

He told the farmers: ‘they’ve got the B team, not the A team,’ before continuing: ‘I genuinely wish my best mate was here because he would absolutely love this. This is what we’re all about, it’s fantastic.

‘And he’s a good grower, Dave. Dave and his wife are good growers.’.

The Hairy Bikers have always been a double act, and Si admitted he felt odd travelling on the bike alone.

‘I didn’t like riding on my own, particularly, but I’m going to take him some produce back and have a nibble. It’s odd without him.’

As Dave returned to visit a historic railway in Portmadog, the star enjoyed a lifelong ambition of driving a steam train.

After watching his close pal lap up the experience, Si said: ‘It was nice to see my best mate driving a train. It was just lush to see a smile on his face because he had a bloody rough time.’

Dave added:  ‘I missed this, last year Kingy, such a b****y awful year,’ before he continued with the heartbreaking words: ‘Thirty years we have talked nonsense, and yet it long continue’.

Referring to Dave’s words prior to his death, another added: ‘”For 30 years we’ve talked nonsense and long may it continue” says Dave Myers on tonight’s episode of and I just welled up.’

Another added: ‘Watching tonight’s episode of #thehairybikers.. keep chocking up every time I see and hear the wonderful Dave Myers.. lovely man, so sad he’s now not with us’.

Another fan reflected: ‘#DaveMyers on the telly now. Apart from lovely food they were/they are an excellent example of male, loving friendship. Something society always needs to see’.

Filmed after Dave’s chemotherapy, the chef admitted that he was scared when he went off the taste of onions during his treatment.

As he rustled up some chicken and spinach empanadas, he confessed: ‘All good things start with an onion, do you know when I was having my chemotherapy I couldn’t stand the taste of onions!’
