Six-time PGA Tour winner Tony Finau has ended speculation he could leave for the riches of LIV Golf by posting a passionate statement on his Instagram, ending with the unequivocal message: ‘I’m not leaving!’

Finau enjoyed an impressive 2023 season in which he won the Mexico Open, but much like many of his PGA team-mates, there have been rumors over whether he could be tempted by the Saudi cash at LIV.

The Salt Lake City-born star, 34, has shut those reports down, though, writing on his Instagram: ‘The 2023 season is in the books! It was a special and incredible season highlighted with a win at the Mexico Open. It was my 6th Win on the @pgatour.

‘Another highlight was reaching the tour championship for the 7th year in a row! As this year comes to an end I’m grateful to play the game that I love and to have the opportunity to compete at the highest level.

‘I’m excited for 2024 and looking forward to playing my 10th season on the PGA Tour! And stoked to be defending in both Mexico and Houston!

‘Thank you to my partners for your continued support. Thank you to the fans for all the love for our whole Finau fam. See y’all in Maui! #imnotleaving.’

That final hashtag sent fans wild on Monday afternoon, and will come as a significant boost for the PGA Tour after it lost one of its biggest stars in Rahm last week.

The Spaniard and 2023 Masters champion accepted a $500m offer from the Saudi-backed tour, and will become one of their biggest stars ahead of the 2024 season.

Rahm will play his first tournament under the LIV banner at Mayakoba in Mexico on February 2, before the players head to Vegas on Super Bowl week days later.
