The 2023 BET Awards took place on Sunday night with plenty of hip-hop’s biggest stars taking home awards for their work over the past year.

The annual ceremony was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, U.S.

Drake received the most nominations at this year’s event, followed by GloRilla, 21 Savage, Lizzo, Beyoncé, Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Ice Spice, and SZA.

The nominations were selected by the BET Voting Academy, a group of entertainment professionals and influencers in the fields of music, media, digital marketing, sports journalism, public relations and creative arts.

The 2023 BET Awards honoured hip-hop’s highly anticipated 50th anniversary with a telecast of performers throughout the night.

Among those who hit the stage for the hip-hop tribute were Remy Ma, Trina, Ja Rule, Fat Joe, MC Lyte, E-40, Chief Keef, Tyga, and a dozen more. Solo performers at the award show this year included Davido, GloRilla, Lil Uzi Vert, and Doechii.
