Jill Duggar Dillard was the only of the 19 Duggar children to participate in the new docuseries, Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets.

Now she is releasing a book with her husband Derick Dillard, “Counting the Cost”, which goes in-depth into their “painful journey” as part of the reality-show-filming Duggar family.

Parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar shared a statement slamming the docu-series. All four episodes of the docu-series premiered on June 2.

Keep reading to find out more…“The recent ‘documentary’ that talks about our family is sad because in it we see the media and those with ill intentions hurting people we love,” Jim Bob and Michelle wrote. “Like other families, ours too has experienced the joys and heartbreaks of life, just in a very public format.”

Jill and her husband now want to reveal even more of their story.

“The challenges we have faced, including lack of respect for boundaries, greed, manipulation, and betrayal, are not that much different than what many people in our audience have faced,” Jill and Derick write. “However, 15+ years of reality television, undergirded by secrecy and lies, is tantamount to pouring gasoline on the fire of our struggle. Thanks to time, tears, truth, and therapy, God has begun to heal our wounds into scars. Though we would have never chosen this path, and it has cost us dearly, we want to use our voice to show others that there is hope beyond the pain.

“Counting the Cost” will be released on January 16, 2024.

Prime Video just renewed 6 TV Shows, cancels 3 more, and announced 1 is ending in 2023.
