Kate, William, Charles, and Camilla have often been seen together, attending joint royal engagements. In photos of the four, Kate and Charles have always seemed close, and a body language expert has noted the pair have a “special” relationship.

Body language expert Judi James told Express.co.uk: “Kate and Charles do seem to have a rather special relationship that shows up visibly in public as the pair seem to single each other out for attention and empathetic signalling.

“Their body language together suggests they are tuned in to each other, using flattery and mirroring signals to show some like-minded thinking or appreciation of a joke.”

Judi went on to compare how Kate acts in public compared to Camilla – the latter seems less relaxed and does not laugh at Charles’ jokes as much as the Princess.

She continued: “Charles has the perfect audience in Kate, who is always very relaxed about performing her laughing rituals in a way that Camilla is not.

“Charles loves to be the comedian and with Kate he will see an appreciative, open-mouthed laugh with nose-wrinkling to signal shared humour.

“This bonding often leads to some cross-fire body language where we can see Kate and Charles catching one another’s eye or communicating across Camilla, who seems to stay out of the way.

“Kate appears less close to Camilla, bypassing her to chat with her father-in-law instead.”

Judi claimed that Kate is not only close to Charles, but seems to be able to communicate well with many male members of the Royal Family.

She said: “Charles looks rather entranced by his daughter-in-law, who has really cracked the code when it comes to dealing with the notoriously difficult Windsor men.

“She was equally close to Harry before the split, and her blend of flattery combined with a degree of firmness, backed up by her competitive traits and a desire to keep the royal Firm on its tracks, seems like an ideal blend to win Charles’ approval.”

Looking at the photos of Charles and Kate being tactile towards one another, Judi continued: “When he [Charles] kisses Kate on the cheek here we can also see high levels of personal fondness.

“While Kate bends politely to accept the kiss, Charles performs an act of inconvenience, apparently stretching his head and neck up fully to plant a warm-looking kiss on her cheek.

“And it is important to remember that it was Kate who spontaneously offered support for a grieving Charles at his father’s funeral, stopping to place a caring arm around his shoulders in the kind of nurturing ritual that we would never see from Camilla in public.”

Perhaps Kate is more relaxed while laughing at Charles’ jokes in public than Camilla is because of her new found confidence.

Judi previously told Express.co.uk that the Princess has built on her confidence since taking on the role, while Camilla seems a little more shy and distant.

The body language expert said: “Kate’s body language has changed since she became Princess of Wales, but perhaps not in the way that people might have expected.

“The pressure could have caused some signs of anxiety and even imposter syndrome, but instead her confidence signals have been on an upward trajectory recently.

“She is now at something of a peak in terms of sending out signals, which suggests she now not only fully embraces and understands her role, but that she feels comfortable in it, too.”

Comparing the Princess to the Queen Consort, Judi added: “Part of this ‘stepping up’ could be caused by the new Queen’s lack of confidence and a lack of desire to be in the spotlight.

“Camilla is very much her husband’s support act primarily, and she can look uncomfortable when she is in her royal role. This might have nudged Kate into the strong position she holds now, both inside and outside the Royal Firm.”
