Samantha Cohen Confirms Interview on Meghan Markle Bullying Allegations
  • Meghan Markle’s former aide, Samantha Cohen, has spoken out about the bullying allegations against her, confirming she was interviewed as part of an investigation into the claims.
  • The investigation was initiated by Buckingham Palace in 2021, inviting past and present employees to discuss their experiences working for Meghan Markle.
  • Cohen, who worked for the Royal Family since 2001 and was Meghan’s private secretary in 2021, was one of 10 employees interviewed.

Samantha Cohen, a former aide to Meghan Markle, has confirmed that she was interviewed regarding allegations of bullying within the royal staff. Cohen, who served in the royal household for nearly 20 years, was among 10 staff members questioned about the claims. Although she did not provide specific details about the allegations, Cohen mentioned the challenges of staff turnover, indicating that the environment was not conducive to retaining staff. She stated, “I was only supposed to stay for six months but stayed for 18 – we couldn’t find a replacement for me and when we did we took them on tour to Africa with Harry and Meghan to show them the ropes but they left (quit) as well while in Africa”.

The bullying allegations against Meghan Markle were first raised by Harry and Meghan’s communications secretary, Jason Knauf, in 2018. Knauf claimed that Meghan bullied two personal assistants and was targeting other female staff members. These allegations were part of a broader investigation into the work environment within the royal household, which was prompted by the Sussexes’ decision to step back from royal duties.

The investigation into the bullying claims was conducted by the Palace and concluded after over a year. However, the results of the investigation were kept private to protect those involved. Meghan Markle’s legal team has refuted the allegations, calling them a “calculated smear campaign”.

Cohen’s comments come amidst a broader discussion about the work environment within the royal household and the challenges faced by staff. Her experience underscores the difficulties of working in such an environment, where high-profile personalities and the pressures of royal life can lead to stress and turnover among staff members.
