Royal women have always been compared to one another, including Princess Diana and the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle. Since Meghan entered the royal family in 2018, the former actor has been seen wearing a few special jewellery pieces that used to belong to Diana.

She also wore a coordinating pearl bracelet, which featured a huge aquamarine clasp.

The following year, Diana was pictured wearing the ring at a party at Christie’s in London.

The event was to mark the launch of the auction of her dresses, just a few weeks before her tragic death.

This time, the Princess wore the ring with a Catherine Walker grey-blue dress embroidered with silver sequins in the shape of subtle flowers.

Meghan wore a beautiful high-neck white dress that was tight around her waist and hips but featured a flowing skirt with a mini train.

The Duchess of Sussex wore the ring with white again in 2018 in Tonga, for a dinner hosted by the king and queen of Tonga.

According to diamond expert Max Stone of jewellers Steven Stone, the aquamarine ring has a deeper meaning to what meets the eye.

He said: “Aquamarine is one of the most visually beautiful gemstones. With an enchanting pale blue colour, the ring complimented Diana’s skin tone perfectly.

“Now having been passed down to Meghan Markle from Harry, it’s interesting to know that the aquamarine’s light blue colour symbolises feelings of sympathy, trust, and friendship.”

Max estimated the jewel’s worth today, saying: “While the ring is no doubt priceless, if it were available to buy, it would be worth around £75,000 to £85,000.”
