Gina was born in 1950 to her mother, Patricia Dory Ocura of Bacolod. She was a ticket taker, and to her father, Bouffard Acthley, a German-American. But her father didn’t stay long after Gina’s birth.
Pareno grew up in the rough neighborhood of Gagalangin, Tondo, where she would accompany her mother to work.
