Jackson Mahomes, the younger brother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has received a six-month unsupervised probation sentence after entering a no-contest plea to a misdemeanor charge of battery. This verdict follows a series of events in May 2023 when Jackson was arrested and initially charged with aggravated sexual battery at Aspens Restaurant and Lounge in Overland Park, Kansas.
Subsequently, the charges were reduced to a single count of simple battery, and Jackson was officially sentenced on March 9, 2024, following the dismissal of three out of his four total charges.
The incident was captured on security cameras, depicting Jackson allegedly pushing an employee and forcibly kissing the restaurant owner, Aspen Vaughn, three times. Vaughn described the occurrence in the restaurant’s basement office, where Jackson and five friends allegedly kissed her without her consent. She also mentioned previous disruptive behavior by Jackson at the restaurant, leading to him being asked to leave.
The sexual battery charges were dropped due to Vaughn’s decision not to testify against Jackson, citing death threats and harassment she faced. These challenges forced her to close the restaurant in August, and she reported vandalism in connection with the charges.
For Jackson, the sentencing marked a relief, expressing a desire to move forward from the incident. His attorney, Brandan Davies, conveyed Jackson’s gratitude for the support received from family and friends over the past year, emphasizing his wish for closure.
