Ian Wright hit back at fellow Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer during Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Newcastle.

The Gunners enjoyed a dominant 4-1 victory after their controversial loss at St James’ Park earlier in the season when VAR struck with another chaotic match.

The former Newcastle star Shearer posted his thoughts on X, formerly Twitter, on his side’s dismal performance in the first half.

‘Any danger of putting a ****** tackle in’ Shearer posted.

Ian Wright, the former Arsenal striker was quick to respond, sharing a video of him tucking into a takeaway meal and giving Shearer a thumbs up and smile.

Shearer retorted soon after the full-time whistle to simply encapsulate his thoughts: ‘Arsenal brilliant. Newcastle shambolic’ he posted.

Fans were quick to highlight the encounter between the punditry pair, enjoying the humorous exchange.

‘That sauce is made of shearers tears!’ one user posted. ‘Brilliant that is, looks decent the food does’ another added.

‘Arsenal is feasting. Football made in Emirates.’ a third chimed in.

‘Wrighty!! We are eating good!!!’ another shared.

The Gunners were dominant from the get-go, with an early lead thanks to a clumsily defended corner from Newcastle, gifting the hosts a goal through Sven Botman’s own goal.

Kai Havertz soon pounced on Martinelli’s lightning-fast cross to double their lead heading into the break.

Newcastle returned from half-time with more fire in their belly, though it was not enough to stop Mikel Arteta’s side from doubling their 2-0 lead to four.

Bukayo Saka proved his worth yet again and slotted home to make it three, while Jakub Kiwior enjoyed topping it off with a fourth from Declan Rice’s corner – making it the record signing’s fifth assist of the season.

Arsenal have now moved within two points of first-placed Liverpool, and just one point behind champions Manchester City with their win at the Emirates.
