Jimmy Barnes has paid a tribute to his old mate Sam Neill.

The veteran rocker, 66, who recently underwent hip surgery, shared a throwback picture of the Jurassic Park star paying Jimmy a hospital visit during his recovery from recent hip surgery. 

It comes after the Jurassic Park star, 75, revealed he was suffering from a rare form of blood cancer. 

The actor made the shocking announcement in his new memoir, Did I Ever Tell You This?

‘Sam Neill and I have had our fair share of hospitals, especially over the last couple of years,’ Jimmy wrote on Facebook.

In the heartwarming photo, a smiling Sam can be seen posing with Jimmy as the two stars sit on the rocker’s hospital bed.

Jimmy also posted another picture of Sam posing in a book shop surrounded by stacks of his new memoir, which is released on Tuesday.

Sam, who is in remission after being diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, said he learned of his condition after he noticed lumps in his neck.

The Twelve star was diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL), which kills around 50 percent of sufferers within five years.

Non-Hodgkin lymphoma begins in the white blood cells and usually first appears in lymph in the neck. 

In his case, Sam says he has been receiving chemotherapy to fight the cancer. It is now in remission.

Nonetheless, he is expected to need chemotherapy treatment for the rest of his life

Sam, who deals with his traumatic health journey in his memoir, said the diagnosis inspired him to write the book.

Meanwhile, Sam reassured fans with a health update last week.

Taking to Instagram, the star announced his recovery was going well and he is in remission.

Sam added he was about to head to work soon to begin a new project alongside actress Annette Bening, 64, and other ‘wonderful cast’.
