Pete Wicks has revealed he recently had a testicular cancer scare and ignored the lump for three months before getting it checked.

The former TOWIE star, 35, will strip off for The Real Full Monty: Jingle Balls next week to raise awareness of the need to check for signs of cancer.

And Pete – whose whose uncle suffered testicular cancer – has also revealed his own cancer scare ahead of the show airing as he urged people to get any lumps checked.

He shared that he found a lump in January but ignored it for three months as it grew, blaming ‘ego’ and ‘pride’ for not getting it checked sooner.

Pete told how he started becoming ‘self-conscious’ of the lump and decided to finally go to the doctors amid fears it might be cancerous.

He told The Mirror: ‘It was affecting parts of my life, I was seeing someone and became self-conscious, but once I got through that stage it was, ‘Woah, if it is cancer, what would that do to my mum?’, so I plucked up the courage to stop being a big wimp about it.’

The TV star said he panicked after getting inconclusive test results back and had an agonising three-week wait to find out if the lump was cancerous or not.

‘I was fearful, when you find a lump, especially down there, you think “Oh s**t”. You don’t want anything to be wrong with your wedding tackle,’ he went on.

‘I kept it to myself and didn’t even tell Mum, blokes always want to be OK and never a burden – it’s ego pride and not a good thing to do.’

Pete said he felt ‘blessed’ upon learning that the lump was not cancerous and that he was able to have it drained, admitting it could have been ‘devastating’.

Pete is appearing on The Real Full Monty’s Christmas special along with a whole host of other stars, including Gemma Collins, Julia Bradbury and Ben Cohen.

Vanessa Bauer, Paul Burrell and Ashley Cain will also be taking their clothes off alongside other stars to raise awareness of life-saving cancer checks.

The Christmas special will once again see the celebrities bare all and strip naked to get people talking about cancer and checking themselves to raise awareness for the disease.

TV presenter Julia, 53, revealed in 2021 that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and later underwent a single mastectomy to have a 6cm tumour removed.

Former royal butler Paul Burrell, 65, was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year and is currently undergoing treatment.

Also joining the line-up is footballer and TV personality Ashley Cain, 32, who tragically lost his infant daughter to cancer.

Azaylia died when she lost her battle with acute myeloid leukaemia in April 2021, when she was just eight months old.

Ex England rugby international Ben Cohen, 44, is also taking part in order to support his ex-wife Abby – who he split from after 11 years of marriage in 2016.

Last month, Abby revealed she’s been diagnosed with cancer and shared photos of herself in hospital after an operation to have a stoma bag fitted.

The celebrities will be hammering home the crucial importance of early self-checks to help save lives on the show.

When asked if she would strip to the nude again, she told MailOnline: ‘It has to be for a good cause where other people can benefit.

‘But other than that, Playboy would have to pay me a good couple of mill. If they want to put the call in, then you know, who knows? I could do Playboy.

‘I know [the late] Anna Nicole Smith done it in a really tasteful way. She did the front cover of Playboy, but she was fully clothed.

‘So yeah, if I could do it, if they would have me the way he had done a Nicole’s style shoot, then why not?’

The Real Full Monty first aired in 2017 featuring eight male celebrities. In the years since Dancing On Ice and Strictly Come Dancing themed specials have aired.

The series last aired in 2021 when the likes of Christine McGuinness and Colin Jackson stripped off on camera.
