Lionel Messi and Inter Miami have embarked on the next leg of the club’s globetrotting preseason, and held a special birthday celebration on board for new arrival Luis Suarez.

The ex-Barcelona striker turned 37 on Wednesday, and was met with a cake as his teammates sung ‘Happy Birthday’ in Spanish.

After already playing in El Salvador and Texas, the Herons are slated to play twice in Saudi Arabia next week – including a clash vs. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr on February 1.

And Inter Miami posted a picture of its talisman Messi getting on a team plane set for Riyadh on Wednesday, captioning the X post ‘MIA [plane emoji] RUH,’ which is the abbreviation for King Khalid International Airport.

Messi flashed a grin as he carried a bright orange bag onto the plane, while Jordi Alba showed off some Louis Vuitton luggage.

Miami’s players will have packed heavily as they won’t be returning home for another couple of weeks.

The Herons will face Al-Hilal on January 29 in Riyadh before playing Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr just three days later on Thursday, February 1.

Three days after that, Messi and his teammates will head east to face a team of the Hong Kong Premier League’s best players on February 4.

And the Herons will then face Vissel Kobe on February 7 at the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo before finally heading home.

In total, the club will have flown over 23,000 miles for its preseason (including El Salvador and Texas), as a video from Front Office Sports showed.

The Herons will then stage one more preseason test at home before the MLS season begins, as Messi will reunite with his childhood club Newell’s Old Boys on February 15.

Real Salt Lake will visit South Florida on February 21 to begin the regular season.

Miami has failed to score in its first two preseason tests, drawing El Salvador 0-0 and losing to FC Dallas 1-0.
