Brazilian rising star Endrick has named the Real Madrid legend who he wants to emulate when he moves to the club in the summer.

The 17-year-old has already begun following in the footsteps of his future team-mate Jude Bellingham by recently copying the England star’s celebration and has given a further insight on his plans at Madrid.

Endrick will join a growing list of Brazilian stars at the club when he leaves South America for Spain with Vinicius Jnr and Rodrygo already first-team stars in Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Madrid beat Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain to the youngster’s signature when they struck a deal with Palmeiras believed to be worth £62million including over £10million in taxes yet to be added.

He has remained with the Brazilian side since the deal was completed in December 2022 due to rules regarding the transfer of players under 18 but will move to the club in the summer.

One decision yet to be made is the shirt number that Endrick will take on and the future star has declared he wants to take Madrid’s fabled No. 7 shirt most famously worn in recent times by Cristiano Ronaldo.

However, fellow Brazil star Vinicius Jnr currently wears the iconic digit since signing a new deal with the club and isn’t likely to relinquish it anytime soon.

Speaking to Placar TV, Endrick said: ‘I’m not overly concerned about the numbers, but my favourite is number seven. That’s what I use in video games when I play NBA and in FIFA.

Another option for Endrick could be to take the number nine top previously worn by Brazilian Ronaldo

‘It is a number that for me draws a lot of attention because Cristiano [Ronaldo] was seven and I also really like [NBA star] Luka Doncic who is a guy who wears 77, a high number. It’s a number that I look at and see as standing out.

‘I like it a lot, but I don’t know. I’ve played with 11, with 10, with seven… now I’m the nine at Palmeiras.

Another option could be for Endrick to take on the No.9 shirt, but he also admitted there is pressure on that as well with Brazil and Madrid legend Ronaldo once wearing the top.

‘It’s a great number, too, but always comes with a lot of responsibility,’ he added.
