Recap of Previous Airings

The anime has had a turbulent path to reach its present pinnacle. On March 3, the first installment debuted as an hour-long special. It was streamed on Crunchyroll under the name Attack on Titan Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS Special 1. Hulu jumped on the streaming bandwagon as well. First airing on September 9, Toonami introduced viewers to the new theme tune, “Under the Tree,” which was sung by SIM. The titles of the future episodes in Japanese, “Shingeki no Kyojin The Final Season Kanketsu-hen Zenpen” for the first half and “Shingeki no Kyojin The Final Season Kanketsu-hen Kōhen” for the second, respectively, suggest a two-part finale.

The Attack on Titan airing for 16 episodes, The Final Season first dazzled viewers on NHK screens in December 2020. English subtitles were available for streaming the anime on Funimation and Crunchyroll. In January 2021, the anime was featured on Adult Swim’s Toonami programming block, while Funimation simultaneously released an English dub version of the show for English-speaking viewers. The anime is still making a lasting impression on the worldwide anime community as the last chapters are revealed.
