A number of high street retailers will reduce their profile of brick-and-mortar shops this month.

Widespread closures will affect customers across the UK, from Wales to London and county Durham.

While some brands will replace old stores with new sites, others will close their doors for good in a bid to cut costs.

Asda, Argos, Iceland, New Look and Habitat are among those losing branches in July, with some expected to go in a matter of days.

Express.co.uk has rounded up the full list of sites affected.

Asda

Asda customers will lose two of the retailer’s “Living” stores at the end of the month.

The first to go is the Green Retail Park branch in Wrexham, Wales, on Monday, July 31.

While shoppers still have time to enjoy the homeware outlet, a second branch could close even earlier.

Those local to Asda Living in Eastgate Park, Bristol could see the site close before July 31, though this is yet to be confirmed.

Iceland

The budget supermarket will say goodbye to its Swansea City Centre site in three weeks, on Saturday, July 29.

Iceland has already closed more than half a dozen shops this year, with one more site in Birkenhead expected to go on September 16 too.

New Look

While supermarket chains are most widely affected by closures, the popular fashion brand New Look is also bidding farewell to stores in July 2023.

Customers who shop at the Teesside Retail Park site in Stockton-on-Tees will no longer be able to visit the shop from Friday, July 7.

Argos

Argos, owned by J Sainsbury plc, will shut its standalone sites this month as part of plans to streamline its services.

The company operates more than 2,000 stores, 837 of which are Argos (including concessions), and three flagship Habitat stores.

Cardiff Bay will lose its local Argos site planned to go sometime in July, though the retailer has not yet given an exact date. The Newport, Wales branch will follow later on in the summer.

On the back of the closures, Sainsbury’s plc will expand its existing profile of 25 new Argos locations that were opened inside Sainsbury’s stores this year.

Habitat

Habitat is part of the Sainsbury’s Group, alongside Argos, though the homeware brand only has three standalone UK stores.

The home furniture store was present in Brighton, Leeds and, White City’s Westfield, London, though all will close permanently from this month.

While the retailer is yet to confirm the exact dates of each site closure, the London store appears to have already shut its doors for good.
