Krispy Kreme has announced a huge change to its line of doughnuts for Australian customers on February 29.

The cult favourite dessert chain has slashed the prices for its 12-pack of Original Glazed doughnuts to $2.29 for one day only.

You have to purchase a regularly priced dozen in-stores to be eligible for the offer.

An Original Glazed pack is usually $24.95 – so foodies will be rushing to get their hands on the limited-edition deal.

Krispy Kreme also revealed that fans whose birthday falls on February 29 will receive a free dozen instead of the heavy discount.

The delicious glaze is made with icing sugar, vanilla extract, and milk – making it the ideal combination of light and sweet.

‘An extra day in the year is an irresistible opportunity for Krispy Kreme to be extra-sweet to our guests,’ said Dave Skena, Global Chief Brand Officer for Krispy Kreme told FEMAIL.

‘So, we’re sweetening Leap Day by the dozens, including for fans whose true birthday comes around only every four years.’

Many Aussies shared their love for the fan-favourite doughnuts online.

‘I honestly love a regular doughnut nothing fancy, no frills. I enjoy the light fluffy texture with the perfect amount of sweetness. Deliciously glazed and if they aren’t warm, pop them in the microwave,’ one said.

‘Taste really good! The doughnut is soft and delicious. Best paired with coffee or tea. Totally addictive,’ another echoed.
