Jason Dupasquier’s condition is ‘still critical’ following his horror crash in qualifying for the Mugello Grand Prix, his team have confirmed.
The 19-year-old Swiss Moto3 rider was taken to hospital in Florence on Saturday for checks after a huge crash over the crest at turn nine.
Dupasquier lost control and fell off his bike before being struck by Ayumu Sasaki who had no time to avoid the impact and was sent flying off his own machine.

Jeremy Alcoba was caught up in the aftermath of the crash as he also arrived unsighted, but Moto GP have since confirmed he and Sasaki are okay.
However, posting on Facebook on Sunday morning, Dupasquier’s Prustel GP team have confirmed they will not participate in the Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon, with Dupasquier’s condition still not stable.
‘PrustelGP [have] decided not to race today in the #ItalianGP,’ the post read.
‘The situation of @jasondupasquier50 is still critical and all our thoughts are with him.’
Fabio Quartararo of Yamaha dedicated his pole position in qualifying to the Swiss
The post was signed off with ‘Keep fighting Jason’, the same messaged that had been placed on a Prustel GP helmet image accompanying the post.
Fellow riders showed their support for Dupasquier too by wearing stickers, while Frenchman Fabio Quartararo of Yamaha dedicated his pole position in qualifying to the Swiss.
Quartararo said: ‘I want to dedicate this one to Jason who had a really bad crash. I hope he’s OK. I’m praying for him and I’m praying for his family.’
Dupasquier’s compatriot and fellow rider Thomas Luthi has also ‘decided not to race at the Italian GP today and is going to the hospital to be close to Jason Dupasquier’s family’, his SAG Racing Team confirmed on Facebook.

There was nothing Sasaki could do to avoid the crash and he was thrown off his bike
It was not the only crash of a dramatic qualifying session as Takuma Matsuyama went airborne in a spectacular crash.
Matsuyama was drafted in as a replacement for fellow countryman Yuki Kunii at Honda Team Asia after Kunii sustained a broken collarbone at the French Grand Prix earlier this season.
The Japanese driver had a heavy crash of his own as he lost control and had a high-side moment which threw him off his bike and nearly into the path of Adrian Fernandez who fortunately didn’t collect him.
The Japanese rider though was able to get onto his feet and walk away from the crash.
Sasaki slid off the track onto the grass and the session was brought to a stop by organisers
