Judo champion and Olympics star Maricet Espinosa Gonzalez has died at the age of 34 after reportedly suffering a heart attack.
Gonzalez allegedly underwent breast enlargement surgery on January 21, just days before tragedy struck.
She was the former number five of the world championships in 2011 and was a double Pan American Champion before she retired in 2017.
In 2013, she became Pan American Champion, before then repeating the achievement, as well, in 2014.
‘La Mole’, as she was known, also represented Cuba at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Gonzalez – who won two silver medals at the continental judo Championships in 2016 – allegedly underwent breast enlargement surgery days before her tragic death
While there, she defeated Nepal’s Phupu Lhamu Khatri in the first round of the women’s 63kg competition.
However, Gonzalez lost in the next round to Israel’s Yarden Gerbi, her most frequent opponent during her career.
She also won two silver medals at the continental judo Championships in 2016.
