She was born and raised in Taranaki, where she studied at Highlands Intermediate School and New Plymouth Girls’ High School. In her final year there, she served as head girl.

Toni received a sports scholarship to attend Lincoln University, where she majored in commerce. At the University of Canterbury, she pursued a diploma course in journalism in 2005.

In December 2009, Street wed North Harbour. Juliette, born in October 2012, and Mackenzie, born in March 2015, are their two children.

She had her gallbladder removed and suffered from bad health for six years before being diagnosed with eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis in 2015.

Street first worked for Television New Zealand (TVNZ) in 2006 as an intern for six months. She served as the host for TVNZ’s coverage of the ANZ Championship and global netball.

After the 2007 National Bank Cup of netball, Lavina Good and Brendan Telfer of TVNZ stepped down as the organization’s leaders. She took over for them.

The Street was on the TVNZ commentary crew for the Beijing Summer Olympics in 2008. When she learned she was pregnant, she withdrew from the TVNZ broadcast team for the 2012 Olympics in London.

After TVNZ lost the rights to cover netball in 2010, Street moved into a prominent position with One News as a lead sports reporter and fill-in sports bulletin presenter.

TVNZ launched Saturday Breakfast, a weekday version of Breakfast, in September 2011, and Street was hired as co-host with Rawdon Christie and then Tmati Coffey.

She served as the weekday Breakfast’s backup presenter as well. Street went on maternity leave in September 2012, and for the next two months—until the show was canceled—finance presenter Nadine Chalmers-Ross filled in.

Together with her previous Saturday Breakfast co-host Rawdon Christie, Street took over Petra Bagust’s role as a regular co-host of the weekday breakfast in 2013.

She rejoined Jesse Mulligan on the Seven Sharp panels in 2014, along with Mike Hosking.
