New York City‘s first babies of 2021 was born at midnight on the dot.

Mom Ivett Rodriguez and dad Antonio Guilbert welcomed Jaxel Rodriguez the minute the ball dropped on Friday morning.

Jaxel came into the world weighing 6 lbs. 11 oz. and measuring 19 inches at Coney Island Hospital, according to the NYC Health + Hospitals Instagram account.

Jaxel managed to enter the world the moment that 2020 officially came to an end.

Pictures show the little boy wearing a matching onesie and beanie from the hospital and being cuddled by his smiling mother. 

According to the New York Post, two babies tied as the first ones to be born in 2020 last year.

Parents Michelle and Anthony Saraceno of Staten Island welcomed their first child, Anthony, at Richmond University Medical Center at midnight on January 1, 2020.

Meanwhile, Jennet and Artyom Zobnin welcomed their son Aidan at midnight in Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn.   

According to UNICEF, an estimated 371,504 babies will be born around the world on New Year’s Day.

What’s more, over half of these births will likely be in 10 countries, including India, China, and Nigeria, which will have the most — followed by Pakistan, Indonesia, Ethiopia, the US, Egypt, Bangladesh, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
