An irate Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton was seen blowing up at the referees and his own quarterback after another offensive offsides call played a role in deciding a touchdown.

Denver was down 28-7 with under a minute remaining in the fourth quarter when the team had a 4th & Goal situation late.

Wilson handed off the ball to fullback Michael Burton for the touchdown – but the referees threw a flag.

After the call of offensive offsides was made, replays showed that Broncos right guard Quinn Meinerz had lined up with his helmet in the neutral zone.

Cameras cut to Payton screaming his head off at the referees for the decision as the field goal unit trotted out to add three points.

But before then, the coach was then seen yelling in the face of his quarterback, Russell Wilson.

It’s unclear exactly why he was yelling at Wilson – who wasn’t responsible for the penalty – and the coach did not provide any clarity after the game had ended.

‘What I talk with Russell about is none of your business,’ Payton said standoffishly after what was a 42-17 loss.

Denver was able to score a touchdown two drives after the field goal, but by then, the Lions were up 35-17 and they would extend their lead on the ensuing drive.

This offensive offsides call was made almost a week after the controversy surrounding the end of the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills.

There, a touchdown was wiped off the board because Chiefs wideout Kadarius Toney was lined up significantly offside before he caught a lateral from Travis Kelce then dashed into the end zone.

That decision led to backlash from Chiefs players – including star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
