The biggest television audience to watch a women’s college basketball regular-season game tuned in on Sunday to see Caitlin Clark’s recording-breaking performance on Sunday.

The Iowa sensation scored 35 points in a Hawkeye’s victory over Ohio State to pass Pete Maravich and become the NCAA’s overall all-time leading scorer.

Maravich held the record for 54 years, and Clark accomplished the feat on a pair of late-first-half free throws.

The game reached a viewership best with 4.42million late in the second half, while the average viewership was 3.39million.

No women’s college basketball regular-season game had more viewers since a clash between titans UConn and Tennessee in 1999.

Iowa versus Ohio State was the second-most-watched college basketball game of the season, trailing Michigan State against Arizona, which followed an NFL Thanksgiving game on FOX.

The monster rating to watch Clark continues the trend of interest in women’s basketball soaring.

When Iowa played in the national championship game last year against LSU, the game had a high of 12.6milliom viewers, a 103 percent increase from the 2022 championship game.

The average of 9.9million viewers for LSU-Iowa was the most watched women’s college basketball game of all-time.

That record is likely to fall in about a month.
