Historic Springfield Holiday Home Tour offers a look inside Jacksonville’s most historic homes

Date:

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – If you’ve ever just wanted to take a look inside some of Jacksonville’s most historic homes, now is your chance!

The 35th annual Historic Springfield Holiday Home Tour — presented by Springfield Improvement And Archives (SIAA) — will be held from 5-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Six homes, ranging in age from the early 1900s to 2023, will be featured on the tour.

The tour will begin at the SIAA Building which is the original Historic Springfield Woman’s Club, located at 210 W. 7th St. Jax, FL 32206 at the corner of Silver Street.

The 2023 theme is “Home for the Holidays,” and the self-guided tour is meant to take you back in time.

“This neighborhood has been here for so long and we have so many houses that represent that period,” said Jeff Gardner, Board Member and Historian for the Springfield Improvement Association and Archives.

Mark and Brittany Riccaboni renovated their 1909 home themselves and made it special for their family of five.

“An older home just has that personality and that story behind it that is instrumental to raising a family here. We know that the house belonged to another family before we got here so we just wanted to be part of the home’s story and contribute to the community,” Mark said.

Brittany said they are thrilled to welcome people into their home and neighborhood.

The tour will feature homes built in 1908 and also some homes that were built as recently as 2022.

Each room in Christopher Corbo’s Walnut Street home takes you back in time. He said it reminds him of his childhood years.

“I brought a lot from my family and I have a lot of family pieces of furniture and artwork and so it is a house that I walk into every day that although I’ve only been here a year, it feels like home,” Corbo said. “It feels like my family is with me, even though I’m from New York.”

Tickets are $20 on tour days. Children 12 and under are free. Click here for more information.

Established in 1869, and located north of Downtown Jacksonville, Springfield is the one of oldest neighborhoods in the city.

Organizers say people near and far stop by to learn more about historic Springfield’s charm during the annual tour.
