However, Jiah’s mother, Rabbiya, expressed her grief over this loss and requested a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) investigation into her daughter’s premature passing.

She expressed her worries about the inquiry, stating that it had not been done with professionalism and that Jiah’s death was a murder rather than a suicide.

So, Rabbiya immediately re-filed a case in the Bombay High Court to seek justice for her daughter. She took this legal action to guarantee a thorough and impartial examination of Jiah’s death’s circumstances.

Jiah Khan Murder Case Controversy And Scandal Explained

On June 3, 2013, Jiah Khan had intended to spend the evening watching Game of Thrones at home in Mumbai.

The brilliant 25-year-old British Bollywood actress excitedly anticipated Kavita’s arrival from Heathrow, who was scheduled to arrive at 3 am. Even earlier that day, Jiah had gone shopping and bought Kavita, her sister, a surprise gift of gold jewelry.

Around nine o’clock in the evening, their mother, Rabbiya Khan, left Jiah alone in their prosperous Juhu apartment to eat supper with friends.

Jiah received a phone call from Rabbiya just before 9:37 pm, telling her to eat and making fun of her for putting on weight for a forthcoming movie part. Rabbiya felt relaxed and pleased after the chat since it was kind and funny.

Tragically, Jiah’s life ended less than two hours later. At 11:20 pm, Rabbiya arrived to find her daughter hanging from a ceiling fan in the guest bedroom.

She desperately cried out for help and grabbed Jiah’s ankles, but it was too late. Jiah’s body was still warm, but her spirit was no longer there.

Kavita’s phone exploded with a flood of texts as soon as her plane landed in Mumbai. One was a voicemail from a casual friend informing her of her sister’s tragic passing. In an instant, Kavita stated that her surrounding went completely black.

Later on, the ongoing forensic investigation inside the apartment and the local police quickly labeled the case an alleged suicide.

However, Jiah’s family, including her mother Rabbiya, sisters Karishma and Kavita, and stepfather Thomas Puppendahl refused to accept that she had committed suicide.

Kavita, her youngest sister, states, “We knew she couldn’t have done it.” But decades later, Jiah’s death’s circumstances are still unknown, leaving a cloudy and unanswered mystery.

Jiah Khan Boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi Arrested

The circumstances surrounding Jiah Khan’s death have consistently attracted people’s interest in India. Although no suicide note was found, Jiah’s sister Kavita found a letter in her handwriting a week after she passed herself.

Despite being anonymous and undated, the letter’s contents made it clear that it was written for her lover, Sooraj Pancholi, who was 22 then.

Sooraj, an ambitious actor in a relationship with Jiah for nine months, was the son of prominent Bollywood personalities Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab.

Following confirmation of the letter’s accuracy, Sooraj was arrested by the local Mumbai police on suspicion of aiding Jiah in her suicide.

However, in next month, bail was granted to him. His trial was put on hold when Rabbiya demanded the Bombay High Court transfer her case to the CBI.

After conducting its investigation, the CBI agreed with the Mumbai police’s preliminary conclusion that Jiah’s death was “suicidal.” The CBI re-filed the accusation of aiding in suicide against Sooraj in December 2015.

Similarly, Jiah’s six-page letter, which detailed her claimed personal connection with Sooraj and the physical and emotional torture she allegedly underwent before committing suicide, was one piece of evidence submitted in the CBI’s charge sheet, along with witness accounts.

Currently, the actor is not in prison and has stated that he has regained his dignity and confidence. However, the actress’ mother stated that evidence was not produced in court, and she has promised to bring justice to her daughter.
