This is the moment King Charles smiles as he continues his official duties at Buckingham Palace.

Charles met with the Ambassador of Algeria, Nourredine Yazid, and Samba Mamadou, Ambassador of Mauritania, today as he continues to undergoe treatment for cancer.

It comes as Kate Middleton was announced to return to her royal duties at a practice Trooping the Colour ceremony on June 8 by the army yesterday before they appeared to do a u-turn today. Kensington Palace has not yet said is she will be present or not.

Video footage shows the King smiling in the back of his Rolls-Royce as crowds cheer him passing.

The 75-year-old, who was dressed in light blue pattern tie, appeared in good spirits as he met with the diplomats.

While he steps back from official visits, other members of the royal family have stepped up to take on extra duties.

Queen Camilla has been holding down the fort since King Charles’ cancer diagnosis in January.

She has completed 13 official engagements solo since her husband’s condition came to light but is now expected to hand the reigns over to the Prince of Wales and Princess Anne whilst she takes a break.

The King was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer following hospital treatment for an enlarged prostate earlier this year, which was unrelated.

He was treated in the same hospital as the Princess of Wales, who underwent abdominal surgery for an unknown condition in January.

It comes as Royal fans are facing ticket chaos after rushing to buy seats to see the Princess of Wales return to royal duties at a practice Trooping of the Colour ceremony, only for the army to do a bungling u-turn and remove reference to her from the event page.

The army today backtracked on claims Kate Middleton would attend June 8’s parade amid accusations officials ‘jumped the gun’ by announcing her attendance without consulting the Palace.

Tickets had sold out via the army website advertising Kate, 42, reviewing a ‘practice’ parade for the first time on June 8 in her role as honorary colonel of the Irish Guards.

The Princess of Wales has been out of action since she underwent abdominal surgery in January, and is not expected to return to public duties until at least the other side of Easter.

The announcement seemed to signal Kate will be well enough to attend the June 8 event, but broke with protocol as only the Palace can traditionally confirm a royal’s attendance.

Kensington Palace has not yet said she will be present, and MailOnline understands that Palace officials were not consulted on the announcement. Neither party has issued a statement on the debacle.
