  • Romeo Beckham joined Brentford ‘B’  on loan from Inter Miami for rest of season
  • The son of David had been training with the reserve side since September
  • Brentford announced he would continue with second team for his development
  • Thomas Frank declared him an ‘interesting player’ ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup tie

Thomas Frank has said Romeo Beckham is an ‘interesting player’ and hopes he can progress to Brentford’s first team after joining on-loan for the remainder of the season.

Beckham, 20, is contracted to Inter Miami but has been training with Brentford’s ‘B’ side since the conclusion of the MLS season in September.

Having impressed during his initial months with the club, it was decided that Beckham would stay on for the remainder of the campaign as the club look to further aid his development.

‘Yeah, I’ve seen him,’ Frank said. ‘I think he’s an interesting player. We hope, of course, like a lot of others that he can make it to the first team.

‘Yeah, [he is] promising. Anyone who has got a contract here – be it a permanent deal or loan deal – there is always the opportunity to stay, of course.’

Frank’s comments come after Beckham was praised for the way he carries himself on and off the field by the ‘B’ side’s head coach Neil MacFarlane.

‘We’ve been absolutely delighted with Romeo since he arrived with us,’ said MacFarlane.

‘He came to us from Inter Miami with the aim of working with us during their close season. Romeo has applied himself unbelievably well, he’s really bought into the culture and the group which he has become a big part of.

‘I love his standards and the way he conducts himself on and off the pitch.

‘He’s been able to get fitter and fitter during his time with us and it leaves him in a good place to now step forward having joined us on loan.

‘I think it’s testament to us as a club, and as a B team, that Inter Miami have asked us to work with him and trust in us to continue working with him to help him with his development.’

Meanwhile, Beckham himself spoke of his delight at being at the club – telling Brentford’s official website that he has ‘never been so excited’.

‘I’m very proud and very happy to be here,’ he said. ‘I came here at the start to keep fit during the off season. The chance then came to come on loan here and I’ve never been so excited.

‘It was a fun season [in the USA] and there were a lot of ups and downs but I’m excited to come here and see what I can do.’
