A couple was killed in a New Year’s Day car crash in Queens caused by a pickup truck whose driver bolted on foot after the wreck, police said.
The Dodge Ram barreled into a Nissan Rogue — pinning the doomed pair inside — just after 5 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Rockaway Freeway and Ocean Crest Boulevard in Far Rockaway, according to cops.
The driver of the Nissan SUV, a 60-year-old woman, and a 57-year-old man in the passenger seat were rushed to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital but could not be saved, cops said. Their names haven’t been released pending family notification.
The truck driver climbed out of the Dodge and took off before cops arrived, according to police.
His two passengers, men ages 37 and 33, stayed behind in the truck, cops said.
The 37-year-old was taken to Jamaica Hospital for injuries to his leg and head.
The 33-year-old argued with cops and was expected to be slapped with charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction, police said.
