Shannon Sharpe still regrets his confrontation with Tee Morant last year as he admitted that he ‘blacked out’ during the incident.

In January of 2023, Sharpe and Morant, father of Memphis Grizzlies star Ja, had to be separated by security during the Lakers-Grizzlies game in Los Angeles. The verbal exchanges began with Sharpe and former Memphis forward Dillon Brooks before it spilled over to a courtside confrontation.

On this week’s edition of his ‘Nightcap’ podcast, Sharpe accepted blame for the incident as he labeled the fracas ‘one of the worst moments’ of his life.

‘Honestly, when people say they black out, I believe them,’ Sharpe told co-host Gilbert Arenas. ‘I completely forgot I was at the game. I said, ‘If one guy steps over that line, it’s over.”

‘Honestly, that might have been one of the worst moments of my life. I should have let it go.’

‘I hate that I put myself in that situation, but when I say I blacked out, I honestly did,’ Sharpe added. ‘Security took me back in the hallway and they were talking to me. ‘Hey Unc, you good?’ As I’m calming down, I said, ‘Oh man. Man, I messed up.”

Sharpe mentioned that he immediately thought of how his family members would react to the incident happening on television.

The three-time Super Bowl champion then admitted that he reacted wrongly and apologized to Brooks and the Grizzlies afterwards.

‘It is what it is. I’m wrong,’ Sharpe said. ‘I’m deadass. I was wrong. I apologized to the Grizzlies and Dillon Brooks.’

Sharpe also apologized on air after the incident. On an episode of FS1’s Undisputed, which he formerly hosted with Skip Bayless, Sharpe publicly apologized for how he handled the situation.

‘It does not matter what Dillon Brooks said or how many times he said it, me being the responsible person, me having the platform that I have, and having so many people look up to me, I was wrong,’ Sharpe said last year.

‘I should have lowered the temperature in the arena. Instead, I turned the temperature up and I let it get out of hand.’
