Luka Doncic set a Mavericks record on Friday night as he scored 73 points in a virtuoso performance, leading his team to a 148-143 win over the Hawks.

Doncic blew past his personal-best and team-record 60 points with the help of eight three-pointers and 15 made free throws.

He shot 75.8 percent from the field overall, becoming the first ever NBA player to score 70+ on better than 75 percent shooting.

‘It was beautiful,’ Doncic said afterwards.

His record night came only four days after Philadelphia´s Joel Embiid scored a franchise-record 70 points, and on the same night as a 62-point performance from Devin Booker in a Suns loss.

Doncic got to the 70 mark with a three-point play with 2:58 remaining.

With Dallas leading 140-136, Doncic added another three-point play to cap his night.

‘He was hot. He was going,’ said Trae Young, who led Atlanta with 30 points. ‘We were trying everything. We were trying to trap him.’

Josh Green scored 21 points for Dallas, but Doncic carried the offense.

‘I’ve never seen anything like that,’ Green said.

As if that wasn’t enough, Doncic also had 10 rebounds and seven assists.

He became the fifth player in NBA history with at least 70 points and 10 rebounds in a game, joining Chamberlain (who did it six times), Elgin Baylor, David Robinson and Embiid — who did it Monday.

Chamberlain, who holds the NBA record with 100 points, also had a 78-point game, while Bryant had 81.
