After a disappointing defeat in the Champions League on Wednesday, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal bounced back with an emphatic victory over Newcastle.

The Gunners secured a 4-1 victory over Eddie Howe’s side thanks to Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, Jakub Kiwior and a Sven Botman own-goal.

Their dominant win at the Emirates saw Arsenal extend their unbeaten streak in 2024 to six out of six, as they continue to mount a Premier League title charge.

Meanwhile, Newcastle’s struggles continued as they brushed aside by the Gunners, despite a late consolation goal from Joe Willock.

Here, Mail Sport provides player ratings for both sides after the thrilling win.

ARSENAL (4-3-3)

David Raya

Was brave in a number of situations, as he rushed out to collect the ball before the Newcastle attackers. Only beaten by a fine Willock header. 7

Ben White

An excellent performance from the Gunners defender, who looks to be back to his best at full-back. 7

William Saliba

A fairly comfortable night for the Frenchman, who did well to keep Isak at bay until he was eventually replaced. 7

Gabriel

Played a crucial role in the opening goal and was unlucky to see his initial effort parried away. Solid at the back, as usual. 7

Jakub Kiwior

The Poland full-back appears to be going from strength-to-strength, having put in a great performance during his fourth consecutive start. 7

Martin Odegaard

Easily the best player on the pitch. Lead by example as he pressed with high intensity and was unlucky to walk away without a goal contribution. 8.5

Declan Rice

Wasn’t afraid to venture deep into the Newcastle half, as he proved once again he’s one of the best ball carriers in the Premier League. 7.5

Jorginho

Rolled back the years with a silky performance in the middle of the park. Chelsea may be watching and wondering why the parted ways with the Italian. 7

Bukayo Saka

After much debate as to whether the Arsenal star is ‘world-class’ or not, Saka seemed as though he had a point to prove as he fired a tremendous strike into the Newcastle net. 7

Kai Havertz

It seems as though Mikel Arteta’s faith in the German international is finally being repaid. A couple of sloppy touches but, overall, a solid performance. 7.5

Gabriel Martinelli

After a disappointing showing during their trip to Porto in mid-week, the Brazilian bounced back with an electric performance out-wide. 7

NEWCASTLE (4-3-3)

Loris Karius

Saved Newcastle from humiliation with a handful of smart stops, despite conceding four. Arguably the visitors’ best player on the night. 6

Kieran Trippier

Struggled to deal with Martinelli’s pace in the first half and didn’t cope much better with Trossard after he came on. 5.5

Fabian Schar

Pulled apart by Arsenal’s free-flowing attack and was uncharacteristically poor while playing out from the back. 5.5

Sven Botman

Scored the own goal and chased red shadows until his substitution. Looked a far cry from the player who started the season. 5.5

Kieran Trippier had a night to forget as Newcastle's defence were put under immense pressure

Tino Livramento

Failed to take his chance over Burn, who assisted his side’s goal after coming on. Torn to shreds at times by Saka and offered little going forwards. 5.5

Sean Longstaff

Worked hard to make amends after a dismal first half. Proved he’ll always put a shift in when his pride is on the line. 6

Bruno Guimaraes

Too cautious in the tackle, perhaps trying to hard to avoid his 10th yellow card of the season. Created a good chance for Isak, which was squandered. 6

Lewis Miley

Didn’t give up, which is admirable for the 17-year-old, but struggled to stamp any authority on the game. 6

Miguel Almiron

Was very ineffective on the right flank. Not how he would’ve wanted to spend his 200th match for Newcastle. 6

Alexander Isak

Improved after the break following a rusty first half. Lacked conviction as Gabriel and Saliba marshalled him expertly. 6

Anthony Gordon

Showed flashes of promise on the ball but had little opportunity in behind the Arsenal back line. 6
