“I was in shock. I fell backwards.

Kate Greville tells the court she had taken Ryan Giggs’s phone because he was preventing her from leaving.

She says she then ran to get her phone before Giggs could get to it.

Ms Greville says: “He pushed me backwards and I ended up being on my back in the utility room, flat on my back, with him on top of me.”

She tells the court she had her phone in her hand and she held it above her head on the floor, with Giggs on top of her.

“He’s pinning me down on the floor and trying to reach the phone out of my hand,” Ms Greville says.

“I tried to kick my legs to get him off me.”

She says she was shouting to her sister for help, saying: “Get him off me.”

Ms Greville says her sister grabbed Giggs by the waist and he pushed his arm back to get her off him.

She adds that Giggs managed to get her phone and then “pushed her head to the floor”.

Kate Greville tells the court Ryan Giggs had been “screaming” at her during their argument at the hotel.

She says she ordered an Uber from the hotel and her sister – who was dog-sitting for Ms Greville and Giggs – began packing up her belongings at the house.

Ms Greville says Giggs arrived at the house and began unpacking her belongings from her car.

She adds that Giggs had blocked her vehicle with his own car.

“I was really upset at this point,” Ms Greville tells the court.

“I was saying: ‘Ryan, please let me go… I just want to go’.

“I was pushing him… trying to hold him off from getting things out of the car.

“I hadn’t seen him that angry before.

“He was drunk.

“I know the whole situation had sobered me up. I had had a few drinks… but what had happened had cleared my head.”

Ms Greville says Giggs was “throwing” out her belongings and she was telling him she just want to go to her father’s home.

Prosecutor Peter Wright is now asking Kate Greville about the alleged events on 1 November 2020.

She and Ryan Giggs went to a hotel that afternoon and her sister was looking after their dog at the house, she says.

She says she had been living with Giggs since the start of the COVID lockdown.

Ms Greville says she and Giggs met friends at the hotel and had dinner there when they had an argument.

She says she was already planning to leave Giggs at a later date when he was due to be away with the Wales football team and she had signed for a flat in secret.

She says also planned to speak to a lawyer about their dog.

Ms Greville says the argument with Giggs started after she told a friend that a man had asked her out for a date.

She says Giggs asked her why she did not tell the man that she had a boyfriend and he was “angry”.

Ms Greville tells the court Giggs kept telling her to apologise.

“I stood my ground and he stood up and stormed out,” she tells the court.

“He left me at the table.

“I sat there in disbelief that he had managed to twist this and turn this on me.”

Ms Greville says she sat there for 10 minutes “embarrassed” before going up to their hotel room where Giggs had packed up her belongings.

The court hears Ryan Giggs allegedly sent Kate Greville a message saying: “You don’t deserve to be a parent,” and referred to her as a “c***”

Ms Greville tells the court the message was intended to hurt her because she “was desperate to be a mum”.

She says she had suffered with anxiety during her relationship with Giggs.

Referring to the message, Ms Greville tells the court that Giggs had “randomly” sent her a naked picture of himself.

After then receiving the email to her work account, Ms Greville says she felt “violated” and she “had no control over what he could do and his actions”.

She says she felt “helpless”.

Kate Greville tells the court she discovered Ryan Giggs was in a relationship with a woman called Zara Charles and blocked him.

After Giggs sent her messages demanding she unblock him, she says she was “scared” after he “threatened” to post messages in a work WhatsApp group.

“He could have sent anything,” she tells the court.

“He wasn’t very rational.”

She says she was concerned Giggs could post “something of a really private nature, of a personal nature… to embarrass and humilate me”.

Ms Greville says she feared Giggs would “try and ruin her career”.

She tells the court Giggs threatened to ask a work WhatsApp group if she was dating a man called Rob.

Ms Greville says she felt “mortified”.

Kate Greville: Giggs would get angry if I wasn’t a ‘good girl’

Kate Greville tells the court that Ryan Giggs would regularly accuse her of cheating and of “being with other men”.

The court hears Giggs sent her message saying: “Are you going to be a good girl?,” and she replied: “Being a good girl and not giving you hassle.”

Ms Greville tells the court: “If I didn’t do what he said, or wasn’t a good girl as he liked to call it… and didn’t give him hassle as he called it, then he would get angry and not be very nice to me.”
