In the eastern city of Durban on Friday night, rapper Kiernan Forbes was shot and killed outside a well-known restaurant.
Forbes’ family confirmed the news, revealing that he was shot in a drive-by shooting on a Florida road. As per his family statement, Forbes was set to perform at a Durban nightclub on Friday.
Similarly, he shared snaps of himself on Instagram hours before the incident. One of his close friends was also fatally shot, while his bodyguard was injured.
According to reports, AKA and his friend Tebello Motsoane were shot. Tebello was a chef and entrepreneur.

The BBC news reports Forbes and Tebello were walking to their car when two armed men called them and shot them. They are suspected of having been on their way to a nightclub when they were shot.
The details regarding the murder are yet to be revealed due to the ongoing investigation. Also, the suspects are rumored to have fled. The motive for the shooting is also unknown.
On AKA’s social media accounts, his parents and fans paid tribute to him. People from various countries mourned the rapper and sent heartfelt condolences to his family.

The late rapper Kiernan Forbes was never married. However, he had a daughter named Kairo Olwethu Forbes from his ex-girlfriend, DJ Zinhle, with whom he started dating in 2014.
In 2021, he was engaged to Nelli Tembe on 21 February 2021. The rapper announced his engagement by sharing a picture on his Instagram handle.
Unfortunately, two months after their engagement, Tembe died in an accident after a fall from a hotel in Cape Town. Kiernan never married after that.
