Southampton have tied down Stuart Armstrong to a new contract which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2024.

The move is a big boost for the Saints with the midfielder’s existing deal having been due to expire in 18 months time.

Since joining from Celtic in 2018, the 28-year-old has become an important member of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side who currently sit ninth in the Premier League table but just four points off second spot.
