The Kansas City Chiefs have seen the biggest increase in social media growth above any other NFL team this season, as the team’s rise in online popularity coincides with speculation of a blossoming romance between Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.

Experts at CasinoAlpha recorded the social media following for each of the 32 NFL teams across Instagram, X (Twitter), Threads, and TikTok in September to establish which teams have since seen the biggest boost to their online fanbase.

The Chiefs ranked in first place with a 6.48 percent increase in total followers across their social media channels. What’s more, is that Kansas City’s experienced not only the highest percentage increase in followers, but also the highest absolute figure, at 548,8400 new followers since the start of the season.

The Chiefs saw their highest proportion of followers come from TikTok, with 303,888 new fans coming from the video sharing platform alone.

The rise in Kansas City’s social media following concurred while speculation of Kelce and Swift dating intensified, especially after the global popstar attended the Chiefs vs. Bears game at Arrowhead stadium, and the more recent Jets vs. Chiefs game on October 2.

‘Social media offers fans a way to establish a connection with their fellow supporters, whether that be celebrating their team’s successes or berating them for their losses,’ Tudor Turiceanu, Chief Editor for CasinoAlpha, told DailyMail.com.

‘It is fascinating to see how each teams’ social media following has changed over the course of the season, with the Kansas City Chiefs receiving an unexpected boost in followers, due in part to Taylor Swift’s attention with Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce.

‘It will be interesting to see how these rankings change as the season unfolds, with Super Bowl contenders likely to see the biggest jump.’

Trailing behind the Chiefs in second place are the Miami Dolphins with a growth rate of 3.88 percent. The Dolphins have gained an extra 157,906 followers across TikTok, Instagram, Threads and Twitter since the start of the season.

The majority of these new followers come from Instagram and Tiktok, where the team’s the most active.

Sitting in third place are the Philadelphia Eagles with a combined increase of 2.63 percent in social media followers since their first game of 2023, last month.

The Eagles currently have a combined 9.3M followers across these platforms and their TikTok videos have received a total of 68.9M likes.
