In that facility, his LCA was retested, and his family learned the source of his LCA from there. A gene mutation known as RPE65 was discovered, and they believe it may qualify him for a clinical study for a novel gene treatment.

His treatment continued at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Spark Therapeutics RPE65 gene therapy clinical study when he was 13 years old. Since then, his vision has improved significantly.
