Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval released a video on his Twitter mocking Kansas City Chiefs player Patrick Mahomes ahead of the Chiefs’ match against Cincinnati Bengals.
Pureval, a lifelong Bengals fan, said that Cincinnati Joseph Lee Burrow, who is 3-0 against Patrick Mahomes, has been asked to take a paternity test to confirm whether he is his father.
Although the Cincinnati mayor released the statement as banter to promote the match between the Bengals and the Chiefs, people did not take lightly on the joke.

Following a considerable backlash, Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Purewal took to social media to apologize for his comments on Patrick Mahomes.
He tweeted an apology, writing that his competitive juice and love for Cincinnati got the best of him.
He ended the apology in a fighting spirit, supporting the Bengals and proclaiming to see the Chiefs on Sunday.
Understandably, Purewal was just fan of the Bengals while mocking the Chiefs’ player. However, he crossed the fine line between banter and offense.
Nevertheless, since the Cincinnati mayor has already apologized and the game is already played, the controversy looks settled.

Aftab Purewal Family Background
Aftab Karma Singh Purewal was born in Xenia, Ohio, on September 9, 1982.
Along with his brother Avid, Aftab is among two sons born to his parents, Devinder Singh Pureval and Drenko.
His family moved from Xenia to Beavercreek when he was four. Aftab had an interest in politics since an early age.
He studied at Beavercreek High School, where he won the student government election in eighth grade with the slogan, “Big, Brown and Beautiful.”
Pureval also ran for the class president as a senior at the school, and won the race against, anti-immigrant opponents who used the slogan “Vote for the American candidate.”
The Cincinnati mayor is married to Whitney Whitis. The couple engaged on April 13, 2017 and married on May 26, 2018.
The Pureval couple is the parents of two sons, Bodhi (born 2019) and Rami (born 2022).
Whitis, an alumina of the Ohio State University, is a hopitalist at Bethesda North Hospital.
