NO PENALTY!

Reprieve for Newcastle. Replays showed it could easily have been a spot-kick.

Oooh there’s a penalty shout for PSG

It’s a massive moment in the game. Hakimi went down and the referee waved the protests away.

Unbelievable from Pope

Wow! What a save from the Newcastle stopper. He managed to block Barcola’s effort from point blank range after Mbappe had turned his defender inside and out.

Pope had no right to stop that one.

Soccer Football - Champions League - Group F - Paris St Germain v Newcastle United - Parc des Princes, Paris, France - November 28, 2023 Paris St Germain's Bradley Barcola reacts REUTERS/Stephane Mahe

A rare shot from Newcastle

Almiron flashed a volley wide of Donarumma’s net after Hernandez failed to clear on the edge o fhis area. It would have been some goal from the Newcastle man if he has managed to get the effort on target.

PSG look threatening when they play at speed

The home side got into a dangerous position after speeding up their play down the left. Lee cut inside before delivering a cross into the box but his pass found a sea of Newcastle defenders.

It’s not much, but it’s at least something from the French side.

Enrique turns to his bench

Vitinha on for Ugarte and Barcola on for Kolo Muani

Skriniar booked

Brilliant work from Gordon leads to another yellow for a PSG player. The winger sttod up the defender before busrting past him into a dangerous position.

Dembele booked after more great work from Livramento

The winger was frustrated after the Newcastle defender stopped him. Dembele lashed the ball into the stands after a free-kick was awarded to Livramento.

Newcastle escape

Pope makes another big save after quickly coming off his line to thwart Dembele. PSG finally sped up their attack and found some joy.

The rebound fell to Mbappe but he was unable to produce the difficult finish that would be required to convert with the ball overhead.

PSG caution

Lee gets himself a yellow card after pulling back Guimaraes.

No joy for PSG

The home side are struggling to lay a glove at the start of the half. PSG are determined to play through the narrow Newcastle defence at the minute and it’s not working.

Enrique will have to make a change.

The Toon are enjoying themselves in Paris

And why shouldn’t they be? It’s been a fine display from their side.

Miley doesn’t look out of place

The youngster has gone about his work with ease at the middle of the Newcastle side. Still only 17-yeard-old, he already looks a real player.

Nearly an early chance for Isak

Smart play from the visitors played in Isak who had isolated Danilo on the edge of the srea. The forward decided to cut back inside when he really should have had a shot on goal.

PSG managed to scramble the ball away and are thankful the Swede didn’t try his luck from range.

Second half underway

Newcastle kick things off.

It’s all change in Group F

AC Milan’s equaliser against Dortmund at the San Siro and Newcastle’s lead against PSG has lifted the Premier League side into second place in the group.

PSG have fallen down to third ahead of their final fixture against Dortmund in Germany. Enrique’s side know they need to get back into this one at home.

HT: PSG 0-1 Newcastle

What a thrilling first-half of action in Paris! The visitors grabbed the goal their play deserved after some quality approach play from Livramento and a mistake from Donarumma in the PSG net.

The hosts started the half well and finished it strongly, carving Newcastle open on a couple of ocassions but finding either Pope or a Magpies defender blocking the goal.

Howe’s side are likely to find more spaces in the second half as PSG look to get themselves back in the game. It’s been a perfect display so far by the Magpies, can they keep it up?

Goal saving block from Schar

The defender knew nothing about it but they won’t care, he saved Dembele’s goal-bound effort.

The French man was presented with the chace after Mbappe overlapped on the left and delievered a brilliant cross into the box.

Lucky escape for Newcastle at the end of the first half.

Three minutes added on

The Magpies have a corner at the end of the half. They look in good shape at the minute.

PSG pressure to finish the half

The home side are laying siege to the Newcastle box but they can’t find a way through. Ugarte just had a shot from 25 yards before Fabio Ruiz had an effort of his own from a similar range.

Howe won’t be too upset to see PSG resorting to those kind of efforts.

AC Milan level it up at the San Siro

The complexion of Group F changes once more. Milan’s leveller and Newcastle’s goal in Paris sees them climb up to second in the group.

Seven minutes to go in the half

It’s been a perfect display so far by Newcastle. PSG have had the lion’s share of the ball but they’ve not been able to replicate the threat they showed in the opening minutes.

Mbappe hasn’t got into the game just yet.

Ugarte joins Joelinton in the book

Almiron is too sharp for the PSG midfielder. He just got his toe to the ball ahead of Ugarte who clattered into him.

Superb save from Pope

It’s franic in Paris! Dembele this time with the effort from range after running through Newcastle’s defence.

The Newcastle stopper got his outstretched right arm to sav and managed to clear the ball away from the onrushing PSG attackers.

What a block by Miley

The 17-year-old got in the way of Lee’s effort as PSG bombarded the Newcastle box. The linesman eventually lifted his flag for an offside in the build up but the youngster wasn’t to know.

Ugarte strikes in anger

The home side are rattled. Ugarte attempted an ambious volley from 30 yards in a clear sign of their agitation after Newcastle’s opener. The awy side are looking composed.

Next objective is getting to break ahead.

GOAL! PSG 0-1 Newcastle (Isak)

What a moment for Isak and Newcastle. The Magpies get their noses in front thanks to great play from Livramento who weaved through the PSG defence before laying a pass off to Almiron.

The wide man hit a shot which Donnarumma parried straight to Isak who couldn’t miss this time.

Joelinton gets his name in the book

The Newcastle midifielder stopped a dangerous counter-attack, fouling Hernandez.

Reus gives Dortmund the lead in the other game in the group

As things stand Newcastle have climbed to third in Group F. They’ll be plenty of twists and turns tonight.

Newcastle have settled into it

The Magpies have got a little bit of the ball and forced a great chance. Most importantly, they’ve quietened the home crowd who are well aware of the fact their side should be behind.

Isak wastes a golden chance

The forward had to score. The Swede fired his effort over the bar from inside the six-yard area after Almiron had won the ball back from Hakimi.

The Newcastle winger fired the cross into the box but Isak really should have put Newcastle ahead.

Soccer Football - Champions League - Group F - Paris St Germain v Newcastle United - Parc des Princes, Paris, France - November 28, 2023 Newcastle United's Alexander Isak reacts REUTERS/Stephane Mahe

Great save from Pope

The Newcastle stopper keeps the scores level after the away side was carved open for the first time tonight. Hakimi linked up wonderfully with Kolo Muani before playing the ball into the centre where Mbappe waited.

The superstar back-heeled his effort but Pope was equal to it. Big save from the England international.

Newcastle need to get their foot on the ball

PSG are swarming all over the vistors right now. Newcastle have managed to gain possesion high up on a couple of ocassions but you just feel they need to slow the game down and try to gain a little bit of control to silence the PSG crowd.

Fabian smashes over the bar

Dembele’s trickery down the right led to the first chance of the game. The French winger produced a brilliant cross which Lee was unable to connect with sweetly.

The ball fell to Fabian inside the area but the Spain couldn’t keep his shot down.

Fast start from the home side

Lascelles is forced into action twice in the opening 40 seconds of the game as PSG probe down their left flank. The defender was on hand to intercept a couple of dangerous crosses into the box.

Suspect that won’t be the last time he has to do that tonight.

And we’re off

PSG get teh game underway

The players are out onto the pitch

Kick off is just moments away!

Not long left until kick-off…

Only a matter of minutes to go until the game gets underway at 8pm in Paris. Newcastle will have to silence the home crowd and mount their challenge.

Newcastle could make history tonight

The away side could become only the second team to beat PSG home and away in the Champions League after CSKA Moscow, who achieved the feat in the 2004-05 campaign.

Newcastle players go through their warm ups

We’re getting closer and closer to kick off in Paris. The away players are putting the final touches on their preparations ahead of the huge clash.

PSG’s assistant youth director and former Toon icon Yohan Cabaye talks youth

‘We are lucky because Paris has a big pool of talent.’ He told TNT Sports. ‘When we recruit at 14/15, we are lucky to get the first choice. The most difficult part is to think about the future.

‘Sometimes the best talent at 14 is not the best talent at 18 and 19. We have a big squad of scouts and we are lucky. But we have to develop them in the right way and with the right mentality. It is a balance between recruiting and developing them after.’

PSG players are out warming up

The home side are looking to aveng their humbling at the hands of Newcastle and maintain their perfect home record in this year’s competition. They’d needed it too as they have lost both games on the road so far.

Trippier insists Magpies know ‘what a result means tonight’

The Newcastle full-back will be a key to the team’s success tonight. He was one of seven Magpies players who recorded a goal contribution in their victory against the Ligue 1 side earlier in the group stage.

Sergio Rico is in the house

The Spaniard battled life-threatning injuries after being trampled by his horse in July. Touching scenes at the Parc des Princes as he soaks in the applause of the crowd.

Howe has full belief in youngster Miley

‘I think you go back to the Chelsea game, his performance for someone so young was outstanding.’ He told TNT Sports. ‘His pass for Alex [Isak] showed coolness of mind, to play the pass and not to shoot. I believe he has the temperament to deal with this today.

Keepers are out warming up

Injuries have forced Eddie Howe to name a slender subs bench that includes two keepers as well as Nick Pope who keeps his place in the starting XI.

Sorry Newcastle fans, the stats boffins don’t love your chances tonight

Opta’s supercomputer has given Newcastle a 22 per cent chance of victory tonight. The draw is also at 22 per cent, not ideal, but that result would still keep Newcastle hopes alive.

PSG boss wary of underestimating Magpies AGAIN

‘If you saw the last match against Chelsea, physically it’s really incredible. Six players are putting on so much pressure, they can pressurise eight players at the same time.’ Luis Enrique said ahead of the game.

‘This intensity in their game and this pressure is something that we need to be prepared for.

‘The competition could be really short, it is a very complicated group and the ranking is really close, as you see.

‘It’s true that now every game is decisive, it’s knockout style. Two teams could be qualified already tomorrow night depending on the results, so until the last day, we don’t know.

‘I’m sure that my team is ready, though, ready to play, to be competitive on the pitch and that’s what we’ve been proving throughout the entire season.’

It’s tight in Group F

For all the doom and gloom, Newcastle could end the night level with Dortmund who currently occupy the top spot.

The Magpies really need to win and hope Milan can grab a draw against Dortmund in the other fixture which will set up a final matchday showdown at St James’ Park for qualification, and possibly top spot.

PSG team news

South Korean Lee Kang-in comes into the side following the injury to wonderkid Warren Zaire-Emery during the recent international break.

Newcastle fans ATTACKED in Paris by PSG ultras

Videos surfaced on social media of Newcastle fans trying to blockade doors as flares and chairs were being thrown by the French side’s ultras, after they had located where English fans were gathering 24 hours before Tuesday’s Champions League clash.

The Newcastle United Supporters’ Club posted: ‘Stay safe in Paris tonight. Stick together and look after each other.’

Newcastle team news

Seventeen-year-old Lewis Miley makes his first start in the Champions League! What a night for the youngster who impressed last time out against Chelsea.

Can a depleted Newcastle claim a famous victory?

It has been much documented but we’ll just stress it again. Newcastle are inthe midst of an extrodinary injury crisis. 11 first team regulars are out with injury and suspension. That includes Matt Target, Javier Manquillo, Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff, Harvey Barnes, Sven Botman, Elliot Anderson, Callum Wilson, Dan Burn, Jacob Murphy and Sandro Tonali.

Saturday’s win will breed confidence that the unlikely can be achieved but PSG are a different beast at home.

A huge game for the Toon

Good evening and welcome to Mail Sport’s coverage of tonight’s Champions League clash at the Parc des Princes between PSG and Newcastle.

The Magpies’ journey in European football’s elite competion could be over if they suffer their third straight defeat in the compatition. Eddie Howe’s side looked in good shape to make the knockout rounds after thumping the Parisian’s 4-1 in matchday 2.

But successive defeats against Borussia Dortmund have put them in a bit of a bind. Their efforts aren’t aided by the injury crisis but Newcastle managed well enough at the weekend against Chelsea.

As for the Ligue 1 giants, they can claim a spot in the Round of 16 with a win and a Dortmund victory over AC Milan in the group’s other fixture.

Group F looked like a tight one and it has proven so with all four sides separated by just three points going into the penultimate slate of games.

It’s sure to be a consequential evening so make sure you stay with us for all the updates ahead of the 8pm kick-off, including team news, quotes and other updates.

We’ll then keep you up to date with the action when the game gets underway!
