On Saturday morning, a man was arrested in connection with a tragic watercraft accident on the Wilmington River that claimed the lives of five people. The bodies of three missing boaters were discovered early Sunday, bringing the total number of those killed in the accident to five.
AKA: Mark Christopher Stegall The watercraft operator who was under the influence at the time of the accident has been identified as Mark Stegall of Savannah. According to the DNR, Mark was arrested and charged with Boating Under the Influence.
According to Mark McKinnon, communications director for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, all three remains were discovered at about 9 a.m. Sunday after game wardens used sonar technology to locate them.

According to sources, Mark Stegall has been arrested and is being held at the Chatham County prison. He’s been charged with operating a watercraft while intoxicated by alcohol, narcotics, or toxic vapor.
Mark was arrested on the 28th of May 2022, according to Sheriff Chatham’s official website. The amount of his bail is $3,500. The remains were discovered close to one another in 14-foot-deep water near the accident scene, according to Georgia Department of Natural Resources Communications Director Mark McKinnon.

People are being asked to stay away from the Wilmington River as Chatham Emergency Services investigates a fatal boat incident. At around 10:30 a.m., a plane crashed just north of Thunderbolt Marina.

So far, Mark Stegall has been named as the main suspect in the death of Chris Leffler in a boating accident. As previously indicated, Mark has been arrested and charged.

According to a source, five persons were killed in a boat crash that occurred at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. One of the nine victims who were rescued from the Wilmington River by a Coast Guard Air Station Savannah crew was boosted and delivered to Memorial Health University on Saturday.
Mark Stegall’s Age And Mugshot Revealed
As per the authorities, Mark Stegall is currently at the age of 46 years old. He was born on the 6th of May, 1976.
Similarly, the mugshots of mark Stegall has not been released on the internet yet. In fact, further investigation surrounding the case is still going on. The inquiry is being led by the Chatham County Marine Patrol and the Department of Natural Resources.
Divers are scouring the water in the Wilmington River region between Thunderbolt and the drawbridge, which remains closed.
