talkSPORT’s transfer guru Alex Crook has some big updates in his final Transfer Notebook of the January window…

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is one of the most sought-after players heading into the final hours of the transfer window.

talkSPORT understands Newcastle have registered an interest in taking Gallagher on loan, but Chelsea could be reluctant to strengthen the Magpies’ quest for a Champions League place.

Crystal Palace would also be keen to re-sign Gallagher after the England international’s impressive stint at Selhurst Park last season.

Gallagher is believed to be keen on a reunion with Patrick Vieira should Chelsea allow him to leave while the third club in the transfer tussle is West Ham.

The 22-year-old is not desperate to depart Stamford Bridge after featuring regularly in Chelsea’s first team this season.

But Chelsea need to trim their squad and Gallagher is likely to find himself down the pecking order if they can force through an 11th hour deal for Benfica’s Argentine World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez.

Gallagher has featured in 18 Premier League games this term, though he has started just nine times in the top-flight.

Arsenal turn to other targets

Brighton’s insistence that Moises Caicedo is not for sale could see Arsenal revive their long-standing interest in Leicester star Youri Tielemans.

The Gunners have had two bids for Caicedo flatly refused by Brighton, who have no intention of selling the want-away Ecuadorian this window.

That leaves Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta short of midfield cover as the north Londoners chase an elusive first Premier League title in almost two decades.

With Tielemans into the last six months of his contract, the Arsenal hierarchy believe Leicester may be tempted to cash in.

Meanwhile, Caicedo is expected to be given a warm reception by his Brighton teammates when he returns to training despite publicly pushing for a move on social media.

talkSPORT has been told Caicedo is a popular character in the dressing room and will not be penalised by his peers for his antics.

Everton ready to spend

Everton’s £45m Anthony Gordon windfall is proving a headache for their relegation rivals.

The Toffees are hoping to pull off a number of late deals to help new manager Sean Dyche steer them away from relegation danger.

Teams competing with Everton to stay up fear the Gordon cash, £40m of which was paid by Newcastle up front, makes them vulnerable to being gazumped by the Merseysiders.

One such club are Southampton, who had been in advanced talks with Rennes over a move for wide forward Kamaldeen Sulemana.

With Everton now also targeting £30m rated Sulemana as a Gordon replacement and Saints already feeling his valuation was too high, there is a strong possibility the south coast side cool their interest.

Adams not for sale

Southampton will not entertain bids for striker Che Adams before Tuesday’s 11pm deadline.

Everton are long-term admirers of Adams having tried to sign the Scotland international in the summer and would be open to securing his services if the opportunity arose.

Leeds are also understood to be keeping tabs on Adams’s situation.

But with Saints desperately short on goals and struggling to recruit a new No9, Adams is a key part of their relegation escape plan and his departure has not even been discussed by the board.

Adams has scored eight goals in 24 games in all competitions this season.
