West Ham need to do something to stop their slide towards relegation and January will be an important month.

David Moyes is under a huge amount of pressure amid a dreadful run of Premier League form that has seen them winless in their last seven, going back to October.

The Hammers slipped into the bottom three at the midway point of the season and are level on points with the two teams below them: Everton and Southampton.

Talk has been growing over possible replacements for Moyes and include Rafa Benitez and Nuno Espirito Santo, while Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino are ambitious longer term targets.

It has been a rapid decline for West Ham after sixth and seventh place finishes in the last two seasons, and also included a trip to the Europa League semi-final.

Goals have been a big problem this season for West Ham, despite the signing of Italian striker Gianluca Scamacca in a £35.5million deal.

He has found the net just three times, while Michail Antonio has only scored twice and been mostly used from the bench.

Antoino could be on his way out of the club, with reports linking him with a move to relegation rivals Everton in January.

Moyes does look set to sign a striker, though, as Danny Ings is on his way to the London Stadium from Aston Villa in a deal worth £15m.

The 30-year-old has scored six Premier League goals this season and, as recently as the 2019/20 season, he netted 22 league goals.

An experienced striker is essential for manager David Moyes to save both his job and West Ham from relegation.

Rumours do still continue to circulate about captain Declan Rice, who is likely to be at the centre of a bidding war with Arsenal said to have entered the race.

Although unlikely he will leave in January, all signs point to the fact he will not be a West Ham player for much longer.

The West Ham hierarchy will want to see returns for the investments made in the team, with around £150m spent in the summer.

Here is how the Hammers could look if Rice and Antonio leave, and they sign Ings.
