Everton ‘are considering a SHOCK move for former Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum’ with current club PSG ready to ‘allow the Dutchman to leave Paris this summer’ amid interest from West Ham and Leicester

  • Gini Wijnaldum is considering a move back to the Premier League this summer
  • The 31-year-old midfielder has caught the interest of Frank Lampard and Everton
  • The Holland international joined PSG just last year but is now set to leave France
  • Leicester, Wolves, and West Ham are all reportedly considering moves as well

Everton are reportedly interested in making a shock move to bring former Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum to Goodison Park this summer after it was revealed that current club PSG are willing to let the Holland international leave Paris.

Frank Lampard’s side are monitoring the 31-year-old’s situation at the Ligue 1 champions and could make a move for the title-winning midfielder, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

The Everton manager and his backroom staff want to overhaul Everton’s midfield following a disastrous Premier League season that saw them narrowly avoid relegation.

Wijnaldum was lured to the French capital on a free transfer last year after refusing to sign a contract extension at Liverpool but now looks set to depart his current club after just one season.

The box-to-box midfielder struggled for minutes under former PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino, making just 38 appearances with most of those seeing Wijanldum introduced from the bench.

The Holland international won the Premier League, Club World Cup, and Champions League during his five-year stay at Anfield after signing for £25million from Newcastle United in 2016.

Lampard and Everton’s interest means Wijnaldum could be set to switch allegiances with reportedly PSG pushing for a sale but resigned to losing the player on a season-long loan deal.

His potential arrival at Everton would help add much-needed quality to the Premier League club’s midfield due to uncertainty surrounding the futures of both Allan and Andre Gomes.

Everton aren’t the only Premier League club rumoured to be interested in acquiring Wijaldum’s services for next season with Leicester City, Wolves, and West Ham all said to be considering moves for the former Premier League winner.

There has been some interest from other European countries in the departing PSG star but Wijanldum is said to be favouring a move back to England.

Everton are yet to make a signing during the summer transfer window and will be keen to get some business concluded soon as their pre-season trip to America looms around the corner.
